Homeland Security & Justice
Patrick R. McElhiney strongly supports our Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and Department of Justice (DOJ). They are cabinet-level agencies responsible for enforcing the laws of the United States federal government. Both DHS and DOJ ensure public safety against foreign and domestic threats, and prevent terrorism and crime. DHS focuses on federal preparations to deal with terrorism and natural disasters, while trying to manage other duties, including border security, and protecting the President and other State VIPs. The DOJ includes venerable law enforcement agencies including the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), the United States Marshals Service (USMS), the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (ATF) and the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA). DHS includes the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), the United States Coast Guard (USCG), the Transportation Security Agency (TSA), and the United States Secret Service (USSS). Some of these organizations also have intelligence arms within the United States Intelligence Community (USIC).
