Ensuring Railway Safety
Railway safety must be checked, by checking the tracks, including the railway ties and the rails and the nails that hold down the rails into the railway ties with the rail boots. Over time, they may become loose, and the ties may need to be changed to improve the hold of the nails from the boots. Additionally, defective railcar wheels need to be replaced or repaired, and loose railcar wheels need to be secured properly, to ensure that railcars do not come off of the tracks. There should be requirements for railcar companies to check the security of their railcars in a regular frequency, to ensure that railcar disasters do not occur.
Additional safety standards should be developed to secure trains that carry toxic or flammable substances, to ensure proper public safety and security.
