Patrick R. McElhiney is, and has always been for stopping, and also preventing acts of genocide that are committed sometimes by foreign nationals. Patrick feels the same way about U.S. involvement in foreign nations - he views all nations as equals with respect to humanitarian laws, and also believes that all nations should be a member of the International Criminal Court (ICC). In the past, Patrick has called out nations such as Russia, Saudi Arabia, and even Israel for committing acts of genocide, and has made his positions known to the U.S. Congress regarding these criminal acts by foreigners. Patrick McElhiney believes that the United States needs to be a member of the ICC to be able to govern properly, and he believes that the United States has abstained from the ICC solely to preserve the right to take any military action that it deems necessary without having to face the consequences, such as in Iraq where a civil war started by U.S. presence led to hundreds of thousands of Iraqis loosing their lives. Patrick believes that acts against humanity are wrong, regardless of who commits them, and everyone should be held accountable for their actions, regardless of what nation or cause they are fighting for.
