Patrick R. McElhiney believes that all infrastructure spending should be attached to goals to alleviate the public from the effects of Global Warming, such as the installation of carbon scrubbers that can deliver carbon-dioxide gasses from the atmosphere into greenhouses where plants can convert it to oxygen. He also believes in storm-proofing our infrastructure, so it holds up better to flooding. Some examples would be flood-proofed sewer systems and flood-proof bridges. Also, the heat plays an important role in the degradation of our roads and other infrastructure - there should be research into new building materials. We should be moving towards a carbon-neutral emissions platform in the United States, instead of relying on fossil fuels, and we can do this by stopping the use of coal for electricity and install solar panels virtually everywhere - with tax incentives.
